Your chance to ride the Calderdale part of Stage 2 of the 2014 Tour de France
The Grand Depart of the Tour de France 2014 takes place in Yorkshire, visiting many of the best places and showcasing some of the best sights of this special county. This is your chance to ride part of the route of Stage 2 as it makes its way through the spectacular landscapes of Calderdale, with four challenging climbs: Cockhill Moor, Cragg Vale, Ripponden Bank, and Blackley End. To get you in the mood, we start with the stiff climb from Sowerby Bridge to Illingworth Moor, joining the Tour route near Oxenhope.
ENTRY ON THE DAY WILL AVAILABLE; JUST TURN UP AND REGISTER AS INDICATED BELOW.
- The start of Le Tour de Calderdale will be at the Pavillion Cafe, Sowerby Bridge Market (Wharf Street) where you can get that essential espresso before setting off. Registration and signing on will be open from 8.30am, and rides will commence from 9.30 am through to 10.30 am.
- The route of Le Tour de Calderdale will be waymarked at junctions to help you find your way around. In addition all riders will be issued with a route sheet that can be fixed to the handlebars, and GPS files are available below.
- Because of arrangements for insurance, entry to Le Tour de Calderdale is limited to 200 places. To avoid missing out, you can enter online completing our entry form and paying £5.00. If you don’t have a Paypal account you can still enter by using a credit/debit card.
- The finish of Le Tour de Calderdale will be at the Jubilee Refreshment Rooms at Sowerby Bridge Railway Station. More details at http://www.jubileerefreshmentrooms.co.uk/ where food and drinks will be available
